UPDATE: The PATHWAY Study has completed enrollment and is not accepting additional volunteers. However, if you are interested in participating in future studies, please complete the confidential form above.
The purpose of the PATHWAY Study is to determine the effectiveness and safety of a new, investigational medical device, called the AspireAssist, vs. Lifestyle Counseling for weight loss. This is a randomized, controlled study, so participants are randomly assigned to one of the following groups:
AspireAssist Group
These participants will undergo an outpatient endoscopic procedure to have the AspireAssist placed in the stomach. The device is intended to assist with weight loss by allowing patients to remove a portion of food from the stomach after eating. Participants will also receive one-on-one or group nutritional and lifestyle counseling free of charge for one year, with regular medical visits to assess their progress.
Lifestyle Therapy Group
These participants will receive one-on-one or group nutritional and lifestyle counseling free of charge for one year, with regular medical visits to assess their weight loss progress.
