Katarina is from a small town in Sweden, where she and her husband run a small farm and business. She met her husband when she was in her early teens, and now they have three grown children together. In addition to managing the administrative aspect of her family’s business, Katarina works as a freelance nurse. On her free time, she loves to go shopping with her daughter, walk in the woods by her farm, and of course go to the bathhouse, a Swedish tradition!

Why Aspire

I have been overweight since I was 20. I gained a lot of weight with my first pregnancy. I’ve been able to lose weight on and off over the years with diets, Weight Watchers, and weight loss pills, but it came back each time. I’ve been a yo-yo dieter for more than thirty years. Over time, though, age began to take its toll, and I started to feel worse with all that the extra weight. I had pain everywhere, constant aching from the extra pounds. I know that I have bad genes when it comes to diabetes and other diseases due to obesity. And I have to admit, I’m a little vain – I was motivated to lose weight to look better!

I knew it was time to lose weight for good, but I was tired of dieting. I was thinking about getting a gastric bypass operation, but I knew there were many side effects and complications associated with this type of surgery. MY EXPERIENCE

I got the A-Tube procedure done on August 30, 2012. At first, it was a lot of work to learn to chew carefully. When you don’t chew, you can’t aspirate very well, so that was frustrating. It took a lot of focus and discipline, but then I got into a routine and the weight started falling off. I was also working to incorporate the lessons from my lifestyle counseling program, which included group sessions where I could learn from others as well. I started to cook healthier food and ate healthier portions, and saved treats for the weekend only.

MY RESULTS*

So far, I’ve lost 53 pounds (24 kgs)! I feel so much more comfortable with myself and more confident every day. My body feels so much better and healthier, and the aches are gone. I live a pretty busy life, so the weight loss has made such a difference in being able to keep up with my activities everyday – walking, swimming, working, etc. This has been a wonderful experience for me. For anyone that is ready to commit themselves 100% to long-term weight loss, and is ready to give it the focus and attention it deserves, this is a great method.
